251customs Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 im running into a problem finding an alt or 2 for my 02 dodge ram it has the 4.7 .. the problems that i am running into are... the way it mounts and "ears" of my alt and the size restrictions of it .. they only can produce @ 160 amp alt... but im currently running 1 re xxx15 (new one)(in a custom ported armrest) with 2 pb asa 1000.1 strapped at 1 ohm ( not at the recommended 2 ohm) i have 2 redtops under the hood 2 kinetik 2400s in the tool box and 2 kinetik 600 1 at each 1000.1 im also runnung 2 asa 600.4 for the highs... driving around town volts stay aroung 11.5 but if i stop volts go as low as 9.3.... the major prob. is i just recieved (finally ,but worth the wait) my 4 btl 18s and my camper shell will be here soon. and if i cant power the system i have now what the heck am i going to do in a few weeks.... oh yeah the big 3 thing is done it helped out alot... i have emailed and called everyone i know ( iraggi has not responded yet) but i need some suggestions...please help ****11.5 and 9.3 volts are with system up to full volume**** 02 dodge ram quad cab 4.7 pioneer 9800bt pioneer 5700 dvd(yes 2 headunits 5700 for dvd only) 1 re xxx 15 (new style in center console) 4 18" fi btls in snugtop 12 mb quart 6.5s original ones not maxxsonics (kicks, 3 in each front door 2 in each back door) quart 4" dash sp 2 soundstream xxx6500s 1 pd asa1000.1 for the xxx15 4 pb asa600.4 highs 4 7" screens 1 15" flipdown 2 red tops 16 g31 yellow tops playstation 2 4 8x11 p.a. horns under truck (music plays through them) db 80.2 for horns 2 underglow kits (1 flex kit in fenderwells) 24" martin bros vampires Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

stilltippin863 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 volt meter is hooked to a + on one 1000 and - on the other 1000at the alternator volts are same or slightly ( like .1or.3) higher than batts the alternator says its 160 amps ( according to the paper) but it does not say at what rpm i do not know but are you going by the volt meter when driveing down the road??? if so my try putting the pos and neg into 1 amp and put the blue wire onto the remote wire in the amp and see if that tells you different it will not have anything to do with chargeing but if you are looking at that and it is saying 11 something that might be b/c you got the power on one and and ground on another just run it together?? The factory alt is rated at 136A, so if you got a 160A you didn't gain much over stock......Im not sure of your total draw of you audio but you should look for an alt rated at least 250A.
