SerCam Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 My idea of having two subwoofers is having a subwoofer for wash side of the SUV. (Left and right). Work with me here I know I may sound dumb from time to time lol. My cost limit on sub(s) is $500, considering how much more expensive the amp will be. What are your thoughts of 1 vvx15 1000 watts @ 1ohm. Would you consider that safe for a daily set up?

For a lot less than 500 bucks you could do a pair of soundqubed HDS12s. And honestly, if you were willing to spend $500 bucks you could get an Ascendant Audio sub! And two subs would not really create a more symmetrical dispersion of bass if that is what you meant. One sub is just fine, it just might be lacking in loudness depending on the sub(s) though.
SerCam Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 You hit the nail on the head with "symetrical dispersion of bass". I wouldn't love spending $500 on a woofer, figured I'd give myself some wiggle room. I was just browsing around again and I thought of 1 HDC315 on 1500 @ 1ohm. Your thoughts?

Fairly similar to what I am doing. I got a RF T1500.1 amp and am going to get either an AA Havoc 15" or Fi Q 15". The only reason I would not personally go with the HDC is because its geared a lot more towards spl than sq. Not that Fi Q or AA are professional sq, but even if you read the description on the HDC is talks about how much it rattles stuff and how loud it is haha. Not that it is bad, it just depends on what you want to hear in your setup! I ground pounding bass is what you want then go with the HDC!
SerCam Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 Nice! Nothing but good things are said about Rockford especially from the man him self Mr. Meade hahaa. Ground pounding and panel flexing is the idea of the build, but on avrelaxed budget with decent power. With the hdc3 in mind, I'm figuring a total power number of 2000 watts. Would you happen to know what the "ideal" subwoofer to door speaker ratio is? (If there is one lol). I figure install the subs and electrical, by the time the sub's are broken in ill have my mind set on an idea for door speakers. The factory system includes Two 1" tweeters on the dash, 6.5" mid bass driver in the front doors and 6.5" coaxials in thebrear doors. Good thing thiabis the "dont know where the hell to post this" section.

Good thing thiabis the "dont know where the hell to post this" section. Its all good, sometimes they are really picky about sorting the questions by sections. but whatevs. I would not use coaxials period, just use like one 6.5in midbass per door. If you are going the soundqubed route for subs, you could go soundqubed for the entire setup. I had the sq 6.5 pro audio and those things got loud! If you did that you could get the soundqubed 4 channel amp. As for tweets, that depends, it may require an additional amp it you went with the setup above. Two tweets total should be fine but you prolly need a small amp to push em. And there is not a magic ratio. It comes down to personal preference. But anything crazy like over 2-3k watts you probably want to look into fiberglassing multiple speakers in per door.
SerCam Posted January 12, 2015 Author Report Posted January 12, 2015 I think I may go with one vvx15v3 at 1000 watts on 1ohm. Up firing 5 cube slot ported. Gonna browse around at different companies see what's going on. I'm definitely going to check out the SQ 6.5's you mentioned. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated. I'll catch ya around

Jeff4661 Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 I've looked into Ascendant but the price wasn't so appealing, you get what you pay for. I'm just overwhelmed with everything. I want everything done right at full potential on a "bang for the Buck". I'll just have to wait for more feedback from other users. I appreciate the help. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Considering trunk space, and feeling sounds rather than hearing. First off welcome ? Next I am a good box builder, I won't say expert but I do understand the fundamentals of a good box. Before I can answer your question.. Have you ever herd any subs like soundqubed or skar? The reason I say this Bcs I think for what your after, a single good 12 on rms power, IN A PROPER BOX, would be plenty sufficient for your bass needs? Current build 05 Yukon SLT http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195350-jeffs-05-yukong-wall-build/
SerCam Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 After doing some realistic thinking. A single 12 is a proper built box should do the trick. Considering I do a lot of trips with my buddies and I had bought the SUV for the cargo room. I'm thinking a HDS 312 D2 paired with a Q1-1200D would fit perfect and leave room for play. I'm just not sure on a box design and an electrical system to feed this setup everything it needs Thanks for the feedback and guidance guys. -Cam
