What's up everybody my name is Cam. As you read, I am a new guy to the forum looking for help and guidance into building/putting together my first legitimate system. Ive been studying and reaearching for some time now. So I'm not a total noob (lol). I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited. The factory Infinity system paired up with my Infinity Bass link just isn't doing it anymore. With this build I'm looking for deep lows on conservative power (2500w max). I'd like to keep the cost as low as possible, I do understand you get what you pay for. I've had my mind set on 2 Skar vvx15's on a sk1200.1D @ 1ohm. But recently I've found out about Sound Qubed HDS315's, but with two I'd already be exceeding my power expectancies. The reason why I'd like 15's is for cone area (if this is dumb please let me know). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Cam

Upgrading to almost anything from a powered sub will be a significant enhancement. Soundqubed and skar are both good subs. However, you likely do not have enough space for two big 15's unless you want to take out seats assuming you build a proper enclosure. You might be better off doing pair 12's or a single 15".

If you went with that much sub power if might be wise to upgrade your door speakers with a 4 channel amp as well otherwise the bass will just drown out the music.

True, it will be a big difference. The box size is the issue, I'd like to have some trunk space. For the vvx15's I was going to follow the box design provided by skar audio. I'm aware I'll definitely need more sound from the doors. I figured if I get my bass where I'd like it I could work around it and sync it all together to my specs. Sound quality is key but I love bass(lol). For the electrical upgrade I was thinking a mechman 270 universal fit and a xs power d3100 with the big 3 of course. A bit overkill on the electrical you think? Or not enough? Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

If the subs are gonna require 3000watts by themselves, and you plan to add 4 channel later you might want a bigger alt and/or maybe 2 batteries instead. If you want trunk space even a pair of 12's won't leave you much, if any lol.

I'll have to take measuremants of the full trunk space tomorrow and report back to you. Anything oa possible but how effecient would it be to build the box tall to save whatever space I can lol. Now choosing between the vvx15 and hds315 is the size of the voice coil. Skars 2.5" high temp vs SQ 3" 4 layer copper coil. Now that I think about it, I like the idea of one 15 that you had mentioned earlier. Seems to fit a lot easier lol. A lot of thinking and note taking to do.

I am far from a box building expert, there are a lot of other people on this forum that can help you with the specifics on a box though. And like I said earlier, both of the subs you had mentioned are good subs, they will definitely get loud. If you wanted a more accurate bass you could look into Ascendant Audio.

I've looked into Ascendant but the price wasn't so appealing, you get what you pay for. I'm just overwhelmed with everything. I want everything done right at full potential on a "bang for the Buck". I'll just have to wait for more feedback from other users. I appreciate the help. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Considering trunk space, and feeling sounds rather than hearing.

It depends on your budget.

But, the cheapest I would put in my car would be like Soundqubed HDS. Or maybe a JBL sub. Idk hard to say exactly. lol
