fosgatefan821 Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 What is the difference from the Fosgate 50 & 100 Farad caps and the Maxwell ones some are using? is it worth it to get a Fosgate one? There is one on eBay and I am just curious. Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201307563553?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT 2007 Ford Ranger (ALL YET TO BE INSTALLED - DUE TO WORK SCHEDULES) K&N Performance Air Intake Massive Audio D2400 Mono Amplifier 2 Custom Built 8" Subwoofers in Ported Enclosure Pioneer AVH-P4400BH In Dash Double Din DVD Player (Video Bypassed) 4 - Pioneer TS-A6886R 6" X 8" 2 - SMD Heavy Duty Single ANL Fuse Blocks 2- Stinger SPP1200 Dry Cell Batteries JL AUDIO Interconnects 2/0 Gauge Big 3 ILL Customz 8 Spot Flat Lug Style Bolt Down Terminals ILL Customz 1/0 to 4 Gauge Power / Ground Reducers Factory Alternator __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2002 Cheverlot Monte Carlo SS - (Deceased) 2 - Rockford Fosgate Power 1501BD 1 - Rockford Fosgate Power 851x Rockford Fosgate Power 6 1/2 Components Rockford Fosgate Power 3 way 6x9 2 - JL Audio W7 13.5" Subwoofers (Sealed) Pioneer AVH-P4400BH In - Dash DVD Player Pioneer AVIC - U250 - Add-on GPS Navigation System Audio Control 6XS 4 Way Crossover / Line Driver Ohio Generator 200 Amp Alternator 3 - Stinger SPP1200 Batteries 1 - Optima D34/78 Battery
Wicks Posted March 17, 2015 Report Posted March 17, 2015 The Maxwell caps are sold separately or in sets of 6. You'll need 6 in series to handle a 12V system. A set of 6 runs around the same price as this RF thing you linked (~$350). The RF cap is rated at 50F (farads). The Maxwell cap bank (6 in series) will be rated at 500F. if using the separate 3000F caps. I doubt that RF cap would have anywhere near enough capacity to offset voltage drop, depending on how much current your system draws? It may filter some noisy voltage issues, but personally I wouldn't touch anything under 500F. Even if you have a smaller system and don't need the capacity. No such thing as overkill when it comes to electrical, especially for the same price. fosgatefan821 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 Fantastic. Thanks. I would rather buy the Maxwell caps. Now to get some prices and save. I am buying stuff now slowly for a future build. I would like to use 4 rf bd1501 on either 4-rf power hx2 15's or 4 jl audio w7 13.5's. Since I have all the amps and subs already. got a smoking deal on them all. I will probably use the batteries in my sig but I want to get as much electric as possible.
