Jhunt94
first question. Why did you post this in the music section? second. If you don't fully understand how caps work you might need to brush up on that. You cannot run just one of those, since their only rated at 2.8 volts per capacitor. Thirdly, capacitors store charge, they don't create voltage, so why would they turn your car's electrical system into a 16v system? 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. WhiteSmoke
Can't have music without power right? My bad I'll delete it and post it somewhere else. I thought running power in series increases voltage and in parallel voltage stays the same,
WhiteSmoke
I'll go back to reading thanks for the help
Bump4life
Can't have music without power right? My bad I'll delete it and post it somewhere else. I thought running power in series increases voltage and in parallel voltage stays the same, yea this should go in electrcal systems and components. and you are right in your thinking but wrong in your application. capacitors/batteries in series add voltage and in parallel add capacity but remain at same potential. But putting a capacitor in line to your amp is going to blow it up literally since it is only rated for 2.85 volts. you would need a working voltage of your alternator charging voltage to be usable. this is accomplished by adding 5-6 capacitors together to achieve a working voltage of 14.25-17.1volts if using 5-6 caps in series. WhiteSmoke
So I can put 6 in parallel 500f putting it around 16 volts and that wouldn't cause any issues with the rest of the components in the electrical system?
WhiteSmoke
So the battery/amp just charges the capacitor to whatever it can

So the battery/amp just charges the capacitor to whatever it can the amp doesnt charge anything. the alternator is the first and highest source of potential. this will charge capacitors and battery. I highly suggest not touching super caps until you have a very good understanding of them. You seem to have very little knowledge of electrical in general which can cause issues small to large and possibly even burning the car down. Read the supercap thread on here and also read everything electrical related so you can get a better understanding of how the electrical system works.
