Setting gains WITH a remote "BASS BOOST CONTROL" <not remote gain control>

So, I've been trying to read allot about how this should be done correctly. At let me explain a little as to why I am confused. My understand is, that, the bass boost adds "DB" at 40hz or so. The amp im using is a old Brutus BXI 1606D and the subwoofer is a Sundown V z.3

I went to my amp, and played a 50hz tone. I needed roughly 38-40V/AC to get 1500 watts "using ohms law". With my "remote" bass boost turned to 0, the max output of my amp is 14V/AC with the gain control set as high as it will go. So this is as if the remote bass control is acting like a gain control ????

I unplugged the remote bass boost and with the gain set all the way as high as it will go, the Volts went to 70ish.

My real question is, I can't really set the gain with the Remote Bass Boost control unplugged because, when you plug it back in it seems like its doing a Negative DB or Lowering the gain?

Should i set the remote bass boost in the middle, then adjust the gains correctly ?

Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.

It is a remote gain control not a remote bass boost. Hifonics amps I don't have remote bass boost controls modules.

Anyways the answer to your question is plug the remote gain in the amp and turn it all the way to max, then adjust the gain knob on the amp itself to the correct setting. This way you can use the remote to control the amount of sound/bass without clipping.

really interesting since its remote nob has 0-18db instead of "min-max" however what you say, and my DMM readings suggest it is a gain control. Maybe it was shipped with the wrong controller,

Thanks.
