fixing a amp

wanted to post this somewhere on here didnt know the best place for it so ima throw it here

long story short my uncle txted me a while back and said there was something "rattling around inside the amp" but it still worked so he wasnt to worried about it then his car broke down and he ripped out his equipment

then the other day he txted me and asked if i wanted to try to fix it i hesitated but said yes (i figured its all ready dickered how much damage can i do) he said he opened it and it was 2 things rattleing around a cap and a white ceramic thing (im assumeing its the discharge resistor for the cap but idk)

last night while i was at work he stopped by and dropped it off with a warning the cap was still charged and sparking

after i got home i sat there looking at it like wtf am i gona do with this

10min later it was completly torn apart 10 min after that i finished soldering and globbing liquid electrical tape on (the black spots on

the right side of the pcb)

now im waiting for the liquid tape to dry so i can glob more on

whats the point of this post i hear you ask (other than a little bit of bragging of course) the point is if you think you know whats wrong with it and its already dickered you cant do any more damage.....

JUST TRY FIXING IT you might suprise yourself

audiopipe acpl1800.1d btw the more recent ones seem to have black silicon like goop glueing the componetnts down soo this exact problem may not be to common all i did was extend the leads and resolder them down

still waiting for the liquid tape to dry

the carpet is stained in the whole apartment it was bad when we moved in 9 years ago now its worse we are in talks with the owner to get it replaced

hooked it to my power supply bridged the pos and rem wires and it turned on (didnt leave it hooked togather very long which as you will read later caused me some pita)

so i disconnected the pos and neg put it back in the case screwed down everything exept the backplate went to grab my 15" sub (only speaker i have laying around) brought it to the living room hooked everthing up and it protected after about 5 seconds

i pulled the components i soldered back on off still protecting im wondering if its a low voltage thing (it have low voltage protect but i cant find anywhere saying what the cutoff is)

like a dumb ass i dint check to see if it was working before i opened it i wounder if the cap bounceing around in there fuckered it or if i did
