So there is a lot of misleading info with speaker sales such as RMS wattage and such.

I am looking to design a mild system for my 1971 K10 Suburban and wanted to know what I really need to know.

Do I need a crossover? Do I need an amp?

Current plane is to run the Boss BV8970B and two of these speakers up front: http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Reference-612m-High-Performance-Loudspeaker/dp/B00292XT2I/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1447041968&sr=8-6&keywords=marine+speaker

Sub's are unknown but a friend has a set for me with an amp.

Do you need a external crossover no, the HU should have EQ settings and the amp has settings.
