ALPINE408
lmao sure don't act like a big boy your talking about Ed rice Big T over at DYMA who is Xovered at 80hz not 60hz and has 8's under his seat not as much power is needed for his 6.5's Funny how I know more about his build then you do there are a lot of people over at DYMA that have the same issue with the 6.5's being crossed over below 100 hz with any type of good power going to them they pop and can not handle it low power they are good but not everyone has an 8 to go with the 6.5s so low power crossed overed at under 100hz is not an option maybe do a little research on your own shit or you could follow the WRONG information you think you know this guy is comedy lol Buh bye big boy Have you ever had your woofers blown? lowcel
Big jobs for the day complete. First I removed the MS-8 from the vehicle and packed it up to ship. Next I undertook the big job of placing a temporary voltage meter in the lighter.
MickyMcD
Just in reference to the app RTA's available versus some hardware units in this case it's chalk and cheese. But you wouldn't eat chalk and you can't write with cheese. The SA-3050 I'm not familiar with but on face value it is a non-FFT analogue machine with 1/3rd octave measures. This unit may be very good at what it does, but it is still limited by it's 1/3rd octave measures. Displaying 20Hz to 20KHz across 31 LEDs will have to round readings up or down to meet the measure, nature of the beast. You can access affordable Fast Fourier Transform applications that offer resolution to one cycle. If the peak frequency is 166Hz, then the displayed peak frequency is 166Hz. The algorithm used by the applications is very watertight, and in theory should offer reliable interpretation of the information from the microphone. Where an application comes unglued is not only is the microphone used for the analysis a variable but so too is the circuitry to amplify the microphone's signal, even further into the power delivery circuitry for the circuitry to amplify the microphone. Induction noises, pops, squeals and DC offsets you may not audibly hear though ALL information is processed by the FFT algorithm whether it's good information or hash. This can skew results very noticeably. A quality hardware or software and controller unit has been designed and adjusted (hopefully!) to take this into account with physical circuit changes and filters. A commercial phone and universal microphone has not. Nature of the beast. For what it's worth the Studio Six Digital FFT app (is that still a thing? Their Audiotools suite was the bomb!) on an iPhone 3GS with an unknown calibration mic as my memory isn't that good was within splitting hairs distance for some areas of the spectrum and max 3dB out in others against a Meyer Sim 3. Handy enough for gigs without the Sim 3. lowcel
I managed to install the Helix today. Install was easy, figuring out the software is above my paygrade. I also tested out the subs for my first time today, they get pretty damn loud! I also took some pictures of the threaded inserts and security screws holding the processor and amps in place. lowcel
I spent over six hours today confirming that I don't know how to tune. It is sounding pretty good to my old ass ears but it still needs some work done. I'll try again next weekend. https://youtu.be/5WdxYInTGqc
lowcel
I just found the score sheet from the last show I did. I believe this was December 2000.
lowcel
Just finished my first alarm install in over fifteen years. All wires soldered with either heat shrink or electrical tape and zip ties to keep the tape from coming loose. All wires are covered in felt tape or flex loom. The brain is mounted in a nice spot hidden pretty well. The backup battery is located under the steering wheel, not in a location that could interfere with the knee airbag. The antennae is located at the top of the windshield on the passenger side. The glass breakage sensor is located on a panel at the bottom of the passenger dash facing the passenger compartment. The led is located on top of the dash. The primary siren is located in the engine compartment. A second siren is located under the passenger side dash. Soldered connections. Taped with zip ties and heatshrink. Battery back up and it's control box. Primary siren. Interior piezo siren. I tested it, it's freaking loud!!! Glass breakage sensor mic. I glued the cable to make sure it doesn't vibrate. The control box is behind the center console. The brain. Antenna. LED.
