CPT.scratchandsniff Posted February 21, 2016 Report Share Posted February 21, 2016 got this amp about 4 years back, cant remember when but protect light came on while listening one day.... was bored soo i opened it up, this is what i found for sure at least 2 blown caps, anyone know how to fix or where to look into getting it fixed? 3vil Posted February 21, 2016 Report Share Posted February 21, 2016 Can you get clear close up shots (macro) of the print on the bulged caps? One of us here might be able to locate some durable replacements. As for actually replacing them it's pretty simple, carefully cut the lead to the damaged caps away from the board, use a soldering iron and preferred solder removal method to remove the remaining leads and solder, position new cap(s) on board and solder in place.
