I've read around the site for a while but never actually posted anything.site is full of ALOT of talented builders.

I have a bit of a problem with my H/U cutting off when the bass hits power hungry notes.I don't have a elaborate system, it's just a basic beginner system imo.

Kenwood H/U : KDC-MP142

Kenwood amp : KAC-9104D

Subs are : kicker compR dvc 12's (x2) with a 4 & 2 ohm switch (there set at 4ohm so together I'm @ 2ohms I believe)

They play nice and loud and the bass is nice, I wanna upgrade to some DDs but money ain't right right now, but when I get good and loud at a light(stopped) the head unit cuts off and comes right back on and I have to hurry an turn it down a bit or it'll do it again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It just stumps me as to what it could be, maybe my gains are too high or something idk but I tuned it by ear cuz there's no good shops by me except one that I found last week by the shop I had my wheel bearings done at, I just havnt had time or money to let him look at it yet.if I could fix it myself that would be awesome.

Sorry for my post being so long.let me know if there's any info I left out that'll help u help me please, I'm a noob but am a very fast learner.

Thank you.

Also it's in a 1995 Lincoln Town car if that helps any.I hear it's really hard to get big bassout of a trunk and mine has one of the biggest so idk if that's part of the problem.

sounds like you are taking alot of power when that happens, or maybe a wire is loose and whenever it slams wiggles it funny. id check your wires and if all is good get an extra battery and hook that up and test it again. you might need too add just a little more power.

I forgot to mention I play all my music through my phone , a ZTE zmax2 , on an aux cable with the V level set to 7 out of 8 , idk what the V level is but it makes it louder lol. I've noticed the exact same song is louder on my phone than on the CD.

Thanx 4 the advice.

I did a big three but biggest wire I had was 6awg, amp and ground is 4awg. You think it may be a voltage drop causing the cut off? Right before it cuts off the lights(headlights and H/U display) start to dim an dance.if so bigger awg wires and having it re tuned should fix it, maybe??

I would start by upgrading your starting battery to an AGM, swap out that 6 ga for 1/0 or 2, then see if any shop out there can tune your system....and if you still get voltage drop, add a second batt or get a high output alt....match the ground and power wires as far as size goes and you should be good with just adding a second batt...

Can't afford another batt at the moment, I'm a bass head on a budget lol(painful hobby to not have $$ for lol)

I was gonna upgrade everything but had to fix my front end suspension and wheel bearings so there went my upgrade $ :( that's what happens when the love for your ride outweighs the worth of it lol but it was a dream car of mine so IMO it's worth it.

Save up then and don't bump while your vehicle is at idle, but I would swap out that 6ga power tho...I'm sure you can cop some in the for sale section...

Awsome, thank you for the input. Now I know what direction to go when my $ gets right. I deff been wanting to upgrade all my wires cuz eventually I'll get the amp and subs I been wanting and the wires I have now won't do.

I'll start with the batt and alt once I can afford it.

Thank you 4 helping out a broke basshead lol
