4th order bandpass

I usually have Ryan at Ram Designs do my boxes, but he's out of the game at the moment. He recommend Mike Singer for this, does anyone know how to get ahold of him?

I'm doing blow through in a toolbox, with a 4th order bandpass. Old School Orion HCCA 15, I've had it rebuilt/reconed. I have APMI powering it. My front stage at this point is Image Dynamics 4x6 up front, and memphis 4x6 in rear... on memphis 4 channel (not sure on juice off the top of my head). I think I'm going to run an active set of tweeters in the pillars also to bring up the staging a bit.

Will this sub work in a 4th order bandpass?

It should work, assuming when you had it reconed the new cone didn't change the parameter significantly. It would be nice if it had a higher QTS and lower FS, which would help it give you a wider bandwidth, but its not too bad.

So the important thing to remember with bandpass boxes is there is more than one right way to do it. There is a lot of flexibility in how the box will sound, but everything is a trade off and comes at a cost. When you gain bandwidth you lose efficiency and vice-versa. What kind of usable bandwidth are you wanting to get, how much power are you going to be putting to the sub?

30-80 is usually what I'd look for. I'd like to add a set of 8's to my front that would really fill any hole I might have between the sub and my midrange. Their atomic 8's I had them built specifically for playing mid bass, and they'll play down as low as the sub. I used them in another application similar to this but in a car.

like I say, I have the APMI-2000 on it, I watched a benchmark on it on youtube, it put out 2968 rms. That's way more than I need, but people burp these things at 5k all the time lol. I have it turned up all the way then just a hair back on the gain, then up front on the knob, usually about 1/8th of the way up for what I normally listen to.... half or so if I'm really jamming.

Currently though it's in a ported box that was designed by Ram Designs. It gets with it, but I want it in my bed instead of the cab.

Are you attached to that Orion?

Seven cubic feet is a lot of space; a pair of Alpine SWR-15D4s would work nicely in that space and should get you about six dB more output, depending on if you have enough power to get there.

The Orion would work in that space too, but seven cubic feet is quite large for a single reflex bandpass.
Seven cubic feet is about right for a dual reflex bandpass, but only masochists build those.
