rockFord_Expedition Posted April 30, 2016 Report Posted April 30, 2016 You fuse to protect the wire, which in turn protects you and your vehicle. The wire size, type and length are your factors to determine fuse size. Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire

Ok so the amp kit that fits my amp would be a 4awg amp kit and im going to be purchasing it from gpcaraudio so it will be ofhc and the length of the wire is 17 feet 4 AWG OFHC Power wire 3 Feet 4 AWG Ground Wire
rockFord_Expedition Posted April 30, 2016 Report Posted April 30, 2016 That amp will probably not draw more than 50 amps or so on music. Are you running another amp for mids and highs? I would run 1/0 power and ground into distro blocks then 4ga from there to the amp(s) Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Scorpion0987654 Posted April 30, 2016 Author Report Posted April 30, 2016 Fuse externally for 120A. The website only has 100A do u think that's close enough or should I grab one from somewhere else to get a 120A fuse?

rockFord_Expedition Posted April 30, 2016 Report Posted April 30, 2016 Fuse externally for 120A. Why, because the amp has 3 40A fuses on it? That has nothing to do with what fuse he should use. Telling him to put a 120A fuse on a 17 ft. run of 4ga is not helping him at all. OP, use the smallest fuse you can get by with. That's why I asked you if you were running another amp. Hey I didn't see UR response last time but I only have the stock amplifiers for a Chrysler lhs w/ infinity system the only after market amp will be the 1200watt one otherwise no other amp sorry again I missed UR last comment
rockFord_Expedition Posted April 30, 2016 Report Posted April 30, 2016 You will see less voltage drop if you run 1/0 from front to back using a distro block or something similar (like a 1/0 to 4ga amp input). Same with your grounds. Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
