MusicHead804
I have 2 hdc4 12s, on 1 sq4500.1, with a 240 amp alt and 1 xs power d3400, 1 xs power d3100. My question is, can i run 2 sq4500.1 on this electrical and just add 2 more d3100s?
Karkov
It would be a lot of power for that alt but if you add the two D3100's I would do it and just watch voltage. I had run two of those amps before. If it was me I would do it, but watch voltage 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov
That's really high as is. Are amp(s) running at 1 ohm? That alt definitely wont keep up with two of those but a decent battery bank will allow you not to drop to danger levels provided you are either on music, or give them time to charge in between demo's/songs. When I ran two, I have a 370 hairpin dedicated to just stereo but was running 10 XS Power batts. the alt actually kept up for the most part, and when it didn't and I hit the battery resting voltage it was like a wall (13.0). My amps were run at 1.0 Ohm and this was on music. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov
Not sure if you know but until you hit battery resting voltage you are only using your alt and the batteries are doing nothing. so 13.0 (give or take) up to whatever you hot charge at (14.8?) is all alt power. 13.0 or lower and the alt couldn't keep up and you are on battery reserve. You are safe playing well into the 12's and lots of people here do it, some even lower, 11's and 10's but I only feel safe into the 12's. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. Karkov
When you get more subs are you gonna run both amps at 0.5 ohms or are you changing things to run them at 1.0 ohm each? At 1.0 ohm each I think the alt won't keep up and you will use battery reserve but I doubt you will ever play dangerously low IMO. At 0.5 ohms each and yea, they gonna pull shit tons of power and you gonna use battery reserve constant, lol, which is actually fine but you will be working the shit out that alt. No biggie. If you are only gonna be running them at 1.0 then maybe hold off on buying 2 more D3100's and just see what voltage does...maybe you only need one? Maybe without anymore you go into the 12's but are happy with it. If you don't compete and so you are only listening to music it wont matter that much because in between bass things will get a spike charge. 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq.
