ssaulen2011 Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 I am trying to hook up a MB Quart ONX1.1600D RMS Power @ 4 ohms 550 watts x 1 channels RMS Power @ 2 ohms 1100 watts x 1 channels RMS Power @ 1 ohm 1600 watts x 1 channels Amp has 2x 70 amp fuses Amp will be ran at 1 OHM @ 1600 watts to 2 sa 12's MB Quart OA800.4 RMS Power @ 4 ohms 100 watts x 4 channels RMS Power @ 2 ohms 200 watts x 4 channels Bridged RMS Power 400 watts x 2 channels Amp has 2x 40 amp fuses Amp will be ran at 4 OHMS @ 100 watts x 4 channels to each door speakers. (Speakers are Alpine Type R 6.5 components in the front and Alpine Type R Coaxial speakers in the rear door. I plan to run 0 guage to a distribution block then 4 guage to each amp. Question lies where do I fuse at and what size? Also can I run both amps off the same remote lead wire? On the other hand I have a 2005 Trailblazer stock charging system I believe my stock ALT is rated at either 145 or 150 amps. Is this enough to run both amps? or do I need to add a battery? if so how would I wire everything up with the extra battery? Sorry if I seem nooby with the questions this is just the first system i've built and I wanna make sure to do it all the correct and safe way.. Thanks for any info!
ILuvJDM Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 I did a 1/0 to 4ga distribution block in my truck, works great. I fused to the 4ga wire I used but I can't remember what size that was
ssaulen2011 Posted July 11, 2016 Author Report Posted July 11, 2016 So did you inline fuse your 0ga aswell or just the 4ga?
Efreakingt Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 Fuse the 0 run near the battery and then each 4 guage would be fused but you said you have fuses on the amps so that should be enough. The 0 can be fused at 250-300. I got a fosgate 2 amp kit and the 0 guage is fused at 300. As for the remote wire, 2 amps can be run on one. I went with a relay and a flyback diode since I planned on running fans and lighting on the remote too. As for electrical, at the very least you would do well upgrading your stock battery to agm. You might also gain from a second battery, a alternator upgrade would likely help more. I'm currently setting up a t1500bdcp and t400 on 1 xs d6500 battery and a mechman 240 alt.
ssaulen2011 Posted July 11, 2016 Author Report Posted July 11, 2016 Ok so I can just inline fuse the 0ga with a 250amp and be fine? Also I was just looking at a kinetik HC800 would that help as a add on battery? If I bought the battery and installed as a second battery would I be ok running 0ga to the battery with a 250amp? Then just inline fuse the 4ga from the second battery to each amp with a 140 amp for the 1.1600D and an 80 amp for the 800.4?
Efreakingt Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 Wiring two batteries together should have a fuse next to each battery. Generally you want a fuse that fits the maximum amperage of the wire itself and fuses next to each power source. If a malfunction occurs you want the fuses to blow and prevent long runs of wire from burning in your ride. The internal fuses on the amps are enough to protect them. In line fuses are generally for amps without fuses built in.
ILuvJDM Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 So did you inline fuse your 0ga aswell or just the 4ga?250a under the hood by the battery for 0 ga run then I used a distribution block that had two fuse spots so I did fuse for my 4ga wire even though it's not necessary. Reason I bought that fused distribution block was because for a while I had a single amp wired so it was nice to pull the fuse and only have one hot 4ga lead in the truck... I ran a single remote wire to the rear then soldered it to a Y to both amps, both turn on and off perfectly
ssaulen2011 Posted July 15, 2016 Author Report Posted July 15, 2016 ok so I'm installing tomorrow and have 1 more question.. I'm gonna run 0 ga to extra bat and ground that bat. Do I need to ground my bat upfront with 0 ga aswell or will the factory ground be sufficient? I've heard both ways and need some help on how to do it.. Thanks in advance.
