Knocker Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Curious if anyone knows what's making this buzzing sound. Have about 10 minutes of play on this new Mayhem 18. All sine sweeps from tuning my enclosure using a 300 watt amp. I let it unload below tuning a few times so it definitely got moving. Still works fine except for the noise. Never felt more than warm. No smell. I thought maybe the dustcap had a leak so I put a small bead of black CA glue (turned white from the activator.. oops) on where I thought it was leaking but didn't make any difference. Anyway, before I start cutting off duscaps or ordering a recone I was hoping to know where to start.

Knocker Posted September 26, 2016 Author Report Posted September 26, 2016 Did the voice cool bottom out at any point during testing? I never heard any smacking sounds when it unloaded. I definitely ran some very low notes to it. I have an octave effect on my amp and I slowly eased it on to see how far I could make the sub move. Never got it moving more than an inch and a half total. Sounded weird when I did that but I thought it was mostly because of the effect processor.

Knocker Posted September 27, 2016 Author Report Posted September 27, 2016 your OP says 300 watts. did you mean 3000? No. It's a Behringer 300 watt bass head. Everything set flat (except for turning on the octave effect for a bit).
