Joshua Learn Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 Just purchased one. Need to build an enclosure. Space really isn't an issue. I'd like to stick to all wood port no aeroport. I like to listen to rap metal and rock most of the time I do like low notes but I like the hit of the kickdrums. Running on Alpine mrp-m100.

Every install is different and every person has different goals. Should i stick to these numbers? Or how reliable do you think NVX is on box reccomendations?

Since you want to have good low frequency output I would probably tune a bit lower than 33 hz, 28 Hz would probably be a good place. Lowering your tuning frequency will reduce your peak output bit, increasing box volume can compensate. I'd go with 3 cu ft. Assuming 1,000 watts of input power you would want a minimum of 35 sq in of port area. 40 sq in would probably be better. Joshua Learn Posted November 10, 2016 Author Report Posted November 10, 2016 Ok I'll have to go back and redesign my enclosure. I was working it out last night and I got it to 3.2cubes net and 29hz tuning but that was at 25in2 of port area. 5x5 square port would be too restrictive? Not slot but a literal square. I'll go back and try to bump it up to 6x6 port tonight if you think that'd yield better results.
