I listen to mainly rock and metal but also listen to rap/hip hop, classical, country and pretty much anything. I'd like help or opinions on a box that'll still have some ass kicking bass but not so much it over powers when I listen to anything aside from that type of music. Please any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. If sealed would be best what size? Bigger, smaller than jl specs which seem super small.

In the case of your sub, the net volume could be increased a bit from the recommendation of 1.75 cu ft. I'd probably go with 2.25 cu ft tuned to 28 Hz. The frequency response could then be refined further using DSP.
