Rust removal on sub motor?

What's going on SMD? Just recently removed all my audio equipment from my truck a couple weeks ago and noticed some surface rust on the motor.

Sub is 15" Fi Q, I had a leak from the third brake light and water was pooling on the sub box which I'm assuming created moister and got onto the sub.

Best way of removing the rust? Is there a chance there is internal damage to the sub? Getting ready to build a new box for my car and trying to decide if this is going in or my 15" Fi SSD.

I doubt there is any damage to the sub, other than cosmetic. A little steel wool and some WD-40 should take that right off.
