It's probably only clipping on a high frequency note and your sub won't play those frequencies because you'll set your "Low Pass Filter" either via amp or on your headunit settings to like 80Hz. This means it will only pass signals from 80 Hz or lower. Anything higher than 80Hz your sub will filter out. Edit: It will not entirely "cut off" the signal but rather, it will 'roll off' meaning some of the signal will stay get in.
