SanDiegoSlapper Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 setup is a single skar zvx-v2 15 dual 1ohm, wired down to a 0.5 ohm on a cab1600.1 in an 06 yukon denali. steve tested this same amp to 3600w at 14.18v wired at 0.5 ohm on his test bench. had alt rebuilt to a 220a, with a smaller pulley as im in traffic quite a bit. i currently only have a single yellow top under the hood and nothing in cabin. something like 750-850 cca's, 900mca if i remember correctly, 45 mins, and yes i know, this is probably extremely under powering for my setup. looking at xs bats right now on amazon, trying to figure out if i should be going with a D1200 or an XP2000. for $200 d1200 bangs out 2600 max amps, but at only 44 ah, 80 mins for $250 xp2000 putting out 80ah, 150mins, but only 2000 max amps so question is, in ur guys opinion, which is better suitable for my situation? ill fork the extra $50 if its gunna help. usually listening at loud volumes for long periods if that helps in the decision making. edit*: this is for a secondary battery to go in the cabin, i plan on keeping the yellow top under hood for now.
Wishuponasub Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Do you know what your voltage drop is? Have you checked it with a multimeter or a decent voltmeter? Sitting around waiting to be installed: 4 FI X 10 270 CES alt D3400/73ah lithium AA 3800.1 (2) AA 75.4

Have you checked it with a multimeter or a decent voltmeter? its fairly bad. it can easily dip to 10.5 at the amp. on hard long hits if i go full tilt on the remote knob. possibly lower. i tryn stay away from turning that bitch up anywhere near that tho. got her stinky a few times, not tryna burn up $350 sub, even tho im sure its a cheap throw away to some of u. also question, was she getting stinky as a result of clipping from the amp getting low voltage? thats what i was assuming anyways
Wishuponasub Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Ehhh... It doesn't matter what you have or I have we all Have the same end goal. Your $350 sub is more than 2 of mine lol. I'm no expert at all and others will chime in with good information. Are you planning this battery to replace your yellowtop under the hood or add it as a secondary inside the cabin? Yeah 10.5 is pushing it haha. Sitting around waiting to be installed: 4 FI X 10 270 CES alt D3400/73ah lithium AA 3800.1 (2) AA 75.4
SanDiegoSlapper Posted March 1, 2018 Author Report Posted March 1, 2018 this will be put in as a secondary, in the cabin, i plan on keeping that yellow top under the hood for now
SkarredSierra Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Not dogging on you but id replace that cab amp. Those things draw alot of juice and send out dirty clipped power. The skar rp1500.1 is only 180 on ebay. 140 if u find a refurb one. Its efficiency and clean power will help alot. That being said either one of your choices will work fine as a secondary. Get the higher ah batt and let it bang.

SkarredSierra Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 The reason i said to replace your amp is due to that particular one being a power hog and throwing dirty power thus causing more drain lowering your voltage faster. Also it will eventually ruin your woofer. Ah is how much reserve a batt has. The more reserve the longer it holds a charge before dropping. Chances are youll never see over a 2000 amp draw so the higher ah batt is better for you.

Wishuponasub Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 If it were me I would have went with the XP as well. Nice choice. Sitting around waiting to be installed: 4 FI X 10 270 CES alt D3400/73ah lithium AA 3800.1 (2) AA 75.4
