Aero port in a wall?

It's it ok to put an aeroport in a wall instead of a slot port? I see tons of videos of slot ports and very few with aeroports, I just want to know the reasoning. 

Through my inexperienced eyes, an aeroport seems like a better choice but I want to get a more experienced opinion.

Sure, its OK.  The reason you see a lot of slot ports is its difficult to get enough port area with aero ports in walls because you just don't have enough space to put them.  

Also, completely disregard the "9-12 sq in of port area per cube" rule you often hear for aeroports.  How much port area you need depends on a lot more than just the size of the enclosure.  Along with enclosure size, tuning frequency and input power and equally important.  On high power systems using 9-12 sq in of port are per cube is a good way to throw a lot of potential output away due to port compression.
