ramman606 Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 I have 4 sundown e8v5's I have built 2 boxes one slotted and one ported the slotted one sounds bests they are around .75 per sub tuned to 32 hz would more air space do better or not

How much port area did you have on both your boxes? As far as your boxes go, I would certainly expect the slot ported box to outperform the aero port box. A single 4" port is very undersized for four E8 subs. Sundown recommends 8-12 sq of port area per sub, so that would take 3-4 4" ports. The 30 sq in of port area you had with your slot ported box is a lot better, but you would still most likely benefit significantly from even more port area. Its going to depend on how much power you are running. If you want to try an aeroport again you are better off using one or two large port vs 3+ smaller ones. A single 8" port would be great, but it will have to be 30" long or so. Depends on what the net volume of the box is. When calculating a box size the space the port takes up is taken away from the box volume. Net volume, which is what is left after you take into account the space the port/s, sub/s and bracing takes up is the volume number that's important.
