Skar EVL-12 box build suggestions with build information

This is my first build not using a prefab box. It is going in a 1992 hatch mustang. It will be powered by a RP1500.1 Skar amp. The hatch area gets very short fast and I would like to keep the box at 12" high. This will also keep it under the sunshade to prevent wondering eyes. The dimensions look kind of odd due to it calculating the height automatically but I was thinking 33w x 15d x 12h. This is tuned to 32 hz with 24 inches of port area. Sub up and port up. I am not sure if the box being this short will cause operating issues. Internal volume would be 2.1 cubic feet. If anyone has any other suggestions the max room would be 33" wide, 22" deep, and 12" tall. If I have to I will just murder out the tint the I would go taller but not as deep due to slope of the hatch. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Well what is the optimum cubes for that sub ?

I'd do whatever I had to, to get that amount of cubes, OR I'd use a different sub.

 

BTW, do you just want it to be as loud as possible ? How much do you lean towards SQ ? I've built a ton of ported boxes on the past, and I strongly prefer them over sealed, but after my last box using Passive Radiators, I'll never use a ported box again. PR's cost 1 or 2 Db's in loudness, but are so freaking musical, and so easy to model in WinIsd, and to build. Oh, and they actually take up a little less space than a port, or vent also.

Skar calls for 2.0 cubic feet when ported. I've had ported boxes before and like the sound quality. I'll be honest and admit I have never heard of a passive radiator. That might be interesting to try at some point. I can definitely fit the correct size ported box, I just didn't know if my odd shape design will hurt performance.

Here is another question. The information that came with the sub says to tune for 37 hz at 2.2 Cu.ft. What do you think would be best? Now that I have the 3/4 MDF, the table saw out, and the router ready to go. 

 

I should also add that the website specs are 2 Cu.ft and 32hz.

Well I built the thing. It sounds great I think. I took it back out of the car to finish it with bed liner and put the threaded inserts in. For my first box I'm pretty happy with it.
