A&W ROOTBEER Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 can someone explain a little what this means in car audio? it came up in one of my questions where i asked which would be better between 3 subs on 3000 watts potentially getting 1000 watts each or 4 subs on 3000 watts potentially getting 750 watts each and i was told More cone area with a little less power will mean less power compression and better use of that power
MickyMcD Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Power Compression; To put it bluntly, when a metal heats up, it's resistance is raised. Heat up a Voice Coil with high power, the resistance increases. Higher resistance, loss of power. Power Compression. We hate it with a passion.
