Never had this issue before but when setting the gains. When I go to over lap and switch tracks, the reading starts at 8db, meaning if I wanted to set to 5db, I'd have to go backwards on the amp gain. I ended up just using it like the original DD1 by using a -5db tone to set it. Pls help, can't figure out what's happening

It's cause your going up past the point of clipping on the gain before you hit read and change track slowly go back down to before clipping then go back up to the point of distortion then hit read and change track

But shouldn't the setting with 5db overlap be the same with the -5db test tone from the original DD1 cd be the same? I got to put the gain much higher with the -5db tone.  By going backwards on the amp gain because of the 8db start, I was almost at the minimum on the gain. Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure but when I did mine with the dd-1+ when I switched over to overlap I was at +2 db to begin with I even watched the multimeter to make sure I was in the right voltage area 2
