Need help choosing what to do with p3s

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I need some advice on whether to switch to one 15 inch subwoofer or stick with two 12 inch subs. I currently have a pair of Rockford Fosgate P3S 12 inch subs in a ported box powered by a Skar rd 20001d amp. They sound great and hit hard, but I’m wondering if I can get more bass and better sound quality with a single 15 inch sub.

I’m considering getting a b2 Riot XL 15 inch sub and putting it in a ported box. I would also probably get a new amp since the 15 inch sub has a higher RMS power rating than the two 12 inch subs combined. I’ve heard that a single 15 inch sub can produce more low frequency output and deeper bass than two 12 inch subs, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.

What do you guys think? Is it worth switching to one 15 inch sub or should I stick with what I have? What are the pros and cons of each option? How much of a difference would it make in terms of sound quality and loudness? Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would use the same amp as before, but I would have to set the gain lower since the 15 inch sub has a higher RMS power rating than the two 12 inch subs combined.
