I'm trying to teach myself how to make some good quality boxes. I'm trying to figure out how i can build a box that will fit snug against the back of the rear seat, the trunk isnt flat it has a incline for the spare tire which i removed from the car. Ill take some pics maybe you guys can give me some ideas and a few pointers since im just starting out in the whole car audio world. I had 4 systems already but the system i have now is the first one i hooked up on my own. Quote

As you can see in a few of these pics the trunk has an incline for the spare tire so the universal box i have has to sit at the very front of the trunk. okay there are a couple of issues that I can see right now.. 1 did you fuse the power wire within 18" of the battery? because you have an inline fuse in the trunk and its not nec, 2 you dont have a good ground... you need to ground the amp to the frame.. not that flimsy brace 3 your wiring is a mess, you should get bigger wire and run everything again or atleast clean it up until you can get bigger wire... that 8/10ga isnt gonna cut it meng. as far as building a box that will sit flush against the back seat its pretty much pointless due to the irregular shape of the spare mount and the minimal height from the floor to the rear deck. that coupled with the fact that the rear seat doesnt fold down that would be pointless. Im working on an idea to where I can get the seat on my Impala to lay down. until then just get a jigsaw, cut the rear deck out, and spend some cash on dampening material. to get the trunk rattle under control. Yeah the power wire is fused 12" from the battery, a local shop threw that 2nd fuse in i dont know why buy they did. I was planning on rewiring everything cuz all of the wiring was done on my 1st system by a local shop. The power wire is a 4 gauge but when i rewire im gonna upgrade to a 0/1 gauge. The only idea i could come up with is removing the back seat completely at throwing in 2 bucket seats, and building a wall that sits between the 2 bucket seats in the back and in the trunk build a false floor and put all the amps etc back there. you dont have to go that route, you would lose a ton of output wit a box right against the back seat...my box is about 2-3" from the trunk latch and it fires to the rear and I have no problems with getting pressure into the cabin. you have to take into consideration that you have a trunk car and you arent using very high end equipment. aside from building a wall your best bet is to rearfire everything with the deck cut out or make a bandpass and port it through the rear deck. My original idea was to cut the rear deck completely out then replace it with MDF and build the box off of that, since the trunk is so oddly shaped. I'll take some pics of my rear deck today and maybe draw up a little picture to help explain my idea a little bit. Quote
