cichlidfort Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 He drives a BMW 530i series and has horrible trunk space. So this what he is doing. He's buying the new Hifonics BXI 2008 amplifier with two L7 15s in a 5.8 ft cubic box. I built the box myself and its a pretty good box (a little undersized but it still beats) and we put the box in his back seats and it literally takes up all the back. So I am wondering if this is going to be loud right behind his head? Quote 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
hotshot27 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 I used to have a similar situation. I built a box and it wouldn't fit into my trunk, so I stuck it into the back seat. I then built another box with the same specs and got it ino my trunk. In the backseat, it didn't sound as loud, but everyone said they could hear me further away. In the trunk it is much louder, but I can't be heard from as long of distances anymore. Just make sure the box is secure or it will be a missile in a car accident. lil_italy773 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 it will get loud im sure but if hes gonna do any comps he might not get the numbers he thinks. i have 4 L7s running off the older 2006D and they powned hard and low but im tuned to 29Hz. only thing id be worried bout is thats alot of weight behind him hope he sum how bolts that bitch down. jams on the breaks and he might be eating the strearing wheel. the seat has locks but thats a shit ton of weight being propeled forword. cichlidfort Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Yeah I see about the moving projectile thing. We are going to reinforce it so its secure but I was just wondering about if it would be loud or not. Quote 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
rusty959 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 It would probably be a similar senario to if you put a forward facing box in a trunk without sealing it, or like when I just for kicks and giggles took my l7 in the minivan and set it in the middle seat and had it right between the front seats like a wall. I thought it would hit, but realistically, all I heard was port noise. how would you be facing it? dblover Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Facing up, both port and subs. my good buddy has a 540i. We managed to put 2 12 in the back but 15 would be hard. If I were him tell him to get 2 12 and point the subs and ports towards the cabin Quote
cichlidfort Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 hes got subs and box already...too late for that Quote 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
dblover Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 hes got subs and box already...too late for that o okay. Sucks it can't fit in the truck or you have to do some custom work to make it fit but would cost alot Quote
cichlidfort Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Ain't my car so I could care less what he does. I just think its hillarious that he is actually going to follow through and have the box taking up the back seats. Quote 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
