  1. last time i did that it cost me $630 in tires Worth it. Anyways nice purchase, Ive been thinking of picking one up myself. Ill be watching to see what kind of success you have with it.
  2. So, I recently picked up this 2013 Subaru BRZ. Decided I wanted to protect it, so put on a clear front bra as soon as I could. For the rest of the car, I heard about this product called opticoat. In short, it amounts to basically putting a layer of resin on your paint. Permanent, and quite glossy. Sheds water well. But, since it is so permanent, your paint needs to be absolutely perfect before you apply. So, heres what I did. Here was my starting point. Quite good as you can see Here is after clay bar, and polish Here is after opticoating out in the sunlight. And perhaps the best, a video of some stuffs So far Im pretty happy. If it holds up as well as it is supposed to, ill continue to be happy.
  3. True. Plus more people with them means cheaper and more plentifull aftermarket parts. Thanks! Thanks! With my normal seating position (im 5' 11") there is about 4 inches behind the front seat. To make matters worse, the seats are so low there isn't room for your feet under them so you have to turn them sideways. I tried sitting behind my gf in the passenger seat and it is possible, definitely not comfy though. Luckily, I didn't buy the car for the back seats, lol.
  4. thanks! lol, glad I could help. Yea, by then these things will be probably way overproduced and cheaper... lol
  5. Surprisingly enough I didn't know about them for all that long. And I got super lucky getting this one. Anyways, more pics as promised: Enough trunk room for whats important! For any headlight nerds Headlights adjusted all the way down All the way up
  6. Maybe at some point. I stll have a year of college left and even though I'm the one paying for it, my dad is trying to put his foot down on no "boom box" because my typical ones flll the car. (that probe at one time had 2 18's, now only has one) Im going to be selling lv4 18, but I still will be keeping my AQ2200. Id love to put it in, but having something to power with it might be hard, cause as you said I don't want to add a lot of weight and Im also not wanting to fill up the little bit of storage space it has. However, where the rear speakers are is a pretty large space. Im going to try to see if some 8's or maybe 10's could fit back there. Might be able to hide them back there and not have my dad complain too much as long as he doesn't see me tearing apart the car to install it. Not sure if the alpine w900bt will be going in or not, the stock radio is pretty good. Unless I got the imprint as well its probably not worth it. Haven't messed with it yet a ton so we will see. thx So far I like it a lot. The interior is perfect for what I want, though I do have the upper model. I might take some more pics here in a bit. Has great response. Haven't thrashed it too much yet. Lol, thanks
  7. Thanks Yea mine is a 94. Had it since highschool. Before it I had a 93. Served me decently well. Time to move on, woot! Lol yea that. More like 70 something now.
  8. New VS old Needless to say Im pretty excited. Didn't just post a build log because Im not sure how soon im going to be able to put subs in.
  9. If you are going for ghetto, maybe some great stuff expanding foam spread out best you can. Better than wood id say
  10. What do you mean size of Hz? size of Hz makes no sense, Hz is a frequency, thats all. Its like saying, "what size are you going on the interstate?" Maybe you mean the amplitude of the voltage, in which case it is 200. 200sin(500t) basically means you have a sinusoid that goes between 200 and -200 and does this 500 times every second
  11. 500hz, the frequency comes from the only thing that is causing a sinusoid, the sin
  12. Just say it is similar to something like... gun control, spend a couple pages saying why it is like it, couple pages why it isn't, profit.
  13. just to get the sentence here: "The average human yells at about 80 decibels, which carries along with it about .001 watts of energy..." Since it "carries" it along with it 0.001 watts, that is all that is there, in the air. There is no way to put 50 watts to a speaker and have it all go to a glass of water or similar. First of all, you will lose most of the power in the speaker, largely to heat, etc. I don't know how to do the math, nor do I want to go find out, but judging by the 0.001 watts from 80dB, say a very good case scenario you have enough power in the sound waves to be considered a full watt. Now focus this at a glass of water. Can you still hear the speaker? Yes, so not all of it is going to the water. Considering how well sound bounces off large bodies of water, almost none of it gets absorbed I would guess. Even if you did get that full watt into it, using their math, it would take 52000 seconds to heat your "coffee" or whatever. (well over half a day) since this is way longer than the rate at which it would loose heat, etc. However, feel free to try it. Especially the second one, that sounds fun if it works.
  14. Don't want to be down on trying or anything, but keep in mind your 50 watt speaker won't actually be giving 50 watts to the water. If you check their calculation, they say 80 db will be something like 0.001 watts. even considering how many times louder your 50 watt speaker will be, you are still putting only a fraction of a watt into the water, best case scenario, according to their calculation. I don't feel like doing it myself. The water will cool due to its surroundings faster than your speaker will heat it up. Similar situation to our loud stereos not causing the cars to go up in a fireball even when say, 30k watts are being thrown around. second one could be fun, you just might have to play around with tuning.
  15. All its doing is playing tricks with the frame rate of recording, just like any video of subs flexing. One of the standard frame rates is 24 hz, which explains it standing still
  16. Lol. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/01/ferrari-458-italia-recalled-fire-risk/ Good thing normal cars have a much lower risk of catching fire than these silly high end ones.
  17. Going to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for Computer Engineering, almost done with my Jr year. Might minor in Computer Science, most of the way there so might as well.
  18. Doing crap like this is how I spent most of the day. However, now I have a not broken exhaust, a parking brake (which hasn't worked the 3 years ive had the car) and I got the 0 gauge ran. Finished the box Another test fit Set the sub in to get it out of my way the gf's car finished
  19. Spent most of the day finishing taking stuff off two cars so they could go to the scrapyard. Here is the almost finished box for the gf. Got one more cote after this to smooth stuff out, just a textured paint, I like it. Put my old alpine in her car. For lack of a better place to put it, put the box in the probe to see how it would fit. Just barely does so, perfect. Dirty car from college life, but whatevs. Tossed in the unit to see how it would look. As stated ill be putting the trim on it eventually, and probably modifying the panel a bit. Lots to do tomorrow.
  20. Realized I hadn't really shown much equipment yet. So here ya go. Just kidding! Since the router is mia, had to go back to old school, and make circles and stuff and use a jigsaw Don't have a compass that big, so had to take matters into my own hands. Tada! Is it perfect? No. Is it perfect enough? Yeup! Not permanently mounted. More tomorrow.
  21. Lost my router so had to rely on a jig saw. Here is partial progress, forgot to take a picture of the finished port. Also forgot to mention Im also doing a smaller build for the gf, single 12 in a sealed box on about 150 watts. The port. 12" box inside the 18" box Box mostly together and port in. Painted the parts of the port that might be hard to get to later. Forgot to take pics with the top on, but due to the thin top I didn't want to screw the corner, so decided to "clamp" it with a nice 100lb bag of sand. Then threw another on for good measure.
  22. Ive been running a tline on about 150 watts to an old alpine 12" for a while now. As stated, does well on low power, but also as stated, you are probably best looking at something other than a tline if you are concerned about space. If I remember correctly my box came out close to 4 cubes, just for one 12.
  23. It went well, obviously not an experience that can be summed easily. Hoping to go back next summer for the second 6 weeks. If you happen to have any questions about OCS, id be happy to answer whatever though. If you have been in terre haute a decent bit, im sure you have heard of Rose-Hulman, where im a jr.
