CHINO11550
Can it be my amp or 2 blown subs because i can hear popping in both the subs Quote H/U Pioneer deh80prs w/ HRT iStreamer Ipod DACFront stage is active, 4 Morel Elate 6.5" & 8 CDT DRT26 tweetsamp running 4mids, Mosconi Audio 300.2amp running 8tit & alum tweets, Mosconi Audio 200.28 12" Ascendant Audio Chaos. amps 2 Digital Designs M4'zbox is a 4th order band passbatts. 1 XS Power D3400 under hood,6 D3100 in back2 XP 370 amp DC Power alts.MLA module 15+voltsAll in a 97 2door Tahoe LT2010 West Coast Reg. 140-149.9 Bass Race Champ Team Bass Hz
ISO
The first thing I will do is pull the subs out. Do 3 things. 1st smell the subs, stick your nose rite in there around the spider and pole piece. If it smells real funny or burnt its a bad sine. 2nd put you fingers evenly around the top of the cone and push the cone in and out very gently you may need to put your fingers under the cone and push up on it too. Listen for any funny sounds, the spider could be poping, the voice coil could be dragging in the pole. A few things could be going on. 3rd use a DMM and check your VCs and make sure they are measureing at the rite ohm load.(This can be done first if you want) Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. ISO
If there are any air vents on your amp try and stick your nose in there too and see if it smells funny or burnt. if everything else is fine next go to your RCAs. Can you pull your radio out? If so, pull it out disconnect your RCAs from both the amp and radio, get another set of RCAs and do a straight shot from the radio to the amp and see if the popping stops. If if stops the RCAs ran through the vehicle have gotten pinched or are grounding out. Replace them and try and figure out were the damaged part is so it doesn't happen again. ISO
Hey man get me an update when you can. I read back through your other thread and I'm hoping its just the amp being to powerful because you should beable to thermal an amp a few times without sustaining any major amount of damage. Let me know whats up man. Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one. Guest aseanj52
That blows. What do you think caused it?
Colin - STAPUFT
Do the subs still pop when you remove the RCAs from the sub amp? If so, then it could be your RCAs. If they keep on popping, then maybe you have a poor power or ground connection somewhere.
