CarAudioFab
So I have a buddy from school that is in the process of dropping a 96 Ranger. He has a lot of experience with that sort of thing but not so much with fiberglass and interior work. So I decided I am helping him out. Each door will house a 6.5" component set. Probably Alpine Type R. On with the pics Here is the door panel Time to start hacking it up... Getting an idea of how the new piece I am adding will fit... I Have to keep the spot for the door handle and the window crank Same from side to side via flush trim bit... Sticky tape is how I made the copies... Flawless reverse mount speaker rings... NOT THE SPEAKER, but a demo of how it'll look -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos! CarAudioFab
Made the plexi inserts today, here is a little tutorial First gather your materials: Router and router table Scissors Flush Trim Bit 3M Double Side Sticky Tape Plexi Glass Wooden replica of insert Shape Here is the flush trim router bit, note the bearing on top which rides the curve while the bottom does the cutting Put your double side tape on the template, this allows you to stick the template to the plexi glass thus preventing it from moving. Adjust your height of the router bit in order so that the bearing rides on what you want to copy. Looks good. You will note I left the protective covering on, this is important as it prevent scratches from appearing on the glass. (The blue tape is because the edge was pealing.) Begin cutting the plexi When you are done simply remove burrs with a lite file (If there are even any I had none). And separate the template from the plexi insert Nice clean edge Fits great! -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos! CarAudioFab
Mounted the rings, here is how to do it perfect... Added some cardboard for a mounting base... Coil some paper up so it fits inside the rings and tape it Now place your ring at the angle you want Inscribe a line around the ring, now remove the tape and lay the paper flat Transfer this to another piece as a copy Here you can see they are the same and mirror copies -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos! CarAudioFab
Measure them out and mount em to the board using hot glue Now mount your rings using hot glue initially, then some CA or super glue Perfectly symmetrical Do the same for tweeter rings Looks great! There you go guys, hopefully they will be wrapped soon -Mark Host of "CarAudioFabrication" - YouTube Car Audio Tutorial Channel Check out my forum section here on SMD for my builds and tutorial videos!
