teknikalitch Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Ok... just got a new amp and sound processor. went from an older 600 watt alpine to a Hifonics BXI2008D. right now its ran at 2ohms wich should be about 1200 watts right? well NOT MUCH LOUDER THAN THE ALPINE! what gives? and the other little guy i got is a soundstream BX-15. with rap i turn the level up on it and the bass gets..... way outta wack. low notes magically turn to higher frequencies. again... what gives? that thing does wonders for my pantara, slipknot and disturbed types of music... what about rap. why isnt it louder? or at least bottoming out my poor little Memphis PR15s? i thought i shoulda smoked those things by now at full tilt... dont get me wrong... its louder and i have a massive amount of flex compaired to what i used to have. any suggestions on what could be the problem with the BX-15? is it made to reproduce basically the notes that are lacking i.e. rock? any input would be appreciated. thanks guys... by the way... nevermind the spelling errors. i suck lol 1992 Honda Accord LX Head Unit: Alpine X-001 Mids/Highs Front: Rockford Fosgate P1652-S Components Mids/Highs Rear: Rockford Fosgate P1653 3-Ways Mids/Highs Amp: Hifonics Zxi6410 Sub: Fi 15" BTL With HiXmCoil Option Sub Amp: Hifonics Bxi2008D Enclosure: 5.2Cubes Gross Tuned at 31Hz Wiring: One Run Of 0g Alternator: Load Boss 170amp

01xtreme Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 The hifonics are somewhat over rated, so I doubt you are seeing a full 1200 watts at 2 ohms, not to mention you probably have impedence rise, so that will raise your impedence past 2 ohms thus lowering your output more. That is just my .02 My System: Pioneer AVH-P3200BT 4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors) 8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash) 1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs) 2-18" BTL's (for now) Crescendo 3kwp (for sale) Complete rebuild coming soon...
