Beckett Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Hi, i was wondering when it comes to setting the gains for my conponant set do i need to set the gains with 4 ohms or 8 ohms on the calculator? (because the tweeters are 4 ohms and the midbass are also 4 ohms so that is 8ohms right? or does the crossover do all that or whatever and i only need to set the gains at 4 ohms? 100x4=400square rooted=20 volts so i set the gains like that yes? ALSO i have wired the new t162s midbass up with my current crossovers(RF FANATIC} they are beeing powered at 4 ohms 70WRMS (16.7volts on volt meter) and one of the speakers has stopped working, i had it working for like 30 mins of music, and i went to get some petrol and turnt the car of (everytime i turn the HU off all the door speakers 'pop') and a lil while after gettin back in the car driving home i noticed the speaker has stopped working! any body know why this is or anything? i am very pist off and confused as to why this has happened? any suggestions? btw the speakers were tested with a ohm reader and the broken one read 0ohms whilst the one that is fine read just under 4 ohms. i have sent the speaker back to get looked at i jus wanna know why this has happened and what could be done to prevent it from happeneing? cheeeeers for any help:) xx JS Fraser *Alpine Typr-R 12" *JBL GTO 1200.1 Sub Amp *Alpine PDX-4.100 *Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5's *Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5's Both in front doors *0/1 Guage wiring from front Junction Boxes to 120AH Battery In Boot (battery removed because too small for alternator) *140 Amp HO Alternator *Alpine Head Unit -------------------------------------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got_Bass89 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 What amp? My buddys speakers poped when he turned it on and he changed the ground and it stopped.
