bhsdriller
I don't work on a rig but i work with my grandpa who is the agent for Southwest Oilfield Products in California. We sell mud pump parts to a lot of the big drilling companies around here. I've been thinking about working on a rig but man it's hard work. fourlug
class 1?? i hope u mean class A drivers.. and what edorsements r they requiring for their hauls? Nope, it's a class 1... I have my class 5 right now (basic). Then I think you usually take a bunch of road test/written exams for your air, dangerous goods, class 3, class 1, etc, etc. It costs like $5000-$8000 to get into a driving school around here but so many companies are so desperate they'll pay for you to get your license. If you have an equivalent license in the states I'm sure there some test you need to take here, like I said I only have my class 5... here is a much better site to look at: http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/Drivers_Licence.cfm I'm sure if you have a class 1 and are willing to put in the hours you'll make $100,000+ a year. fourlug
No clue man, I'm sure there is a way. Try looking up and giving one of these companies a call (at a Canadian location in BC, alberta, sask location) BJ Services Schlumberger Sanjel Halliburton Trican They all do cementing, acidizing, fraccing, nitrogen. Pretty much you'll drive a big ma fuckin nice rig around.
Andrew2944r
Working on a Rig I am a Mud Engineer "aka chemical Specialist" for Halliburton/Baroid, Working in the Oilfield period is some of the best money a person can make. I have a Degree in Business Adm/Marketing and I went into the Service side of the Oilfield and the money is unbeatable per the hours you work. Working on a rig as a Tool pusher/Driller/Derrick Hand you can make $18 - 22+ per hour and usually work a 7 on 7 off schedule. Get in my field and you work 6 to 8 hours a day more than 3/4 of it driving and you can make 10k easy a month. At this point in time the Oilfield in Texas/Louisiana/mississippi is unbeatable. The money is almost to good to be true but if you are good at what you do and you really try and apply yourself the money comes and comes! I love the Oilfield the view changes daily and I dont wear a tie or a damn suit. Hit me up if you have any questions Quote Team Ampere Audio

fourlug
Thats sweet someone with real experience! I've just researched and grew up around it a bit. Only 6-8 hours a day tho? Damn things must be different here, I know they run 10 on 4 off, 24 on 4 off, 21 on 7 off around here is pretty common. Mind you thats living in a camp working 12 hours or more, then transportation on top of that. As well you don't need to be good at anything here, just have a pulse and you'll get a job LOL But hey nice to see someone who works in oil/gas. Hope I wasn't mis informed on my posts edit. I think we start as a Leasehand, or roughneck here on Drilling and Service rigs. Edited October 8, 2008 by caravan
