sodfamily Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I am in a littler predicament here, I will be installing a new system in either a 2004 F150regular cab (it has the extra room behind the seat) or my 87 El Camino. I will be upgrading the battery and alternator and putting in Hush Matt also. I have been doing some serious research and have narrowed it down to three brands. Let me also say that I am trying to go with the same equipment subs, amps, comps, processor and head unit(if possible). I know this may sound stupid but to me it isn't. So here's what I have gotten so far. Head unit is the same for all set ups. Alpine iDA-X100 and the processor will either be a Alpine PXE-H650 or a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2. First set up:Alpine Subs - SWX-1043d (2) Sub Amp - PDX-1.1000 Comps - SPX 17pro Comps Amp - PDX-2.150 Second set up:Rockford Fosgate Subs - T210D4 (2) Sub Amps - T20001BD Comps - T162s Comp Amp - T5002 Third set up:JL Audio Subs - 10w7 (2) Sub Amp - HD750/1 Comps - ZR650 Mid Bass - ZR800 Comp/Mid Bass Amp - HD600/4 I have also looked at Orion, Pioneer, and Polk, but unsure about quality from top to bottom of equipment. So those are still on the plate just not 100% sold on them as of yet. Of course I was looking at there top of line equipment also. I would appreciate any feed back positive or negative on the equipment. All equipment will be installed and set up by my local stereo shop also. Quote Head Unit: Alpine CDA 9887 Sub Amps: 4 RF2500's Subs: 8 SA-12's Walled Comp Amp: 1 RF600.2 (for now) Comps: (4) 6.5 Punch Mid Pros and 2 Punch Pro Tweeters Batteries: (1) XS D5100 (5) D3100 Power Cables: 2 runs of 2/0 power and ground each front to back(Try-Star) Alternator: Dual Mechman Rhino 250's Deadener: Fatmat / Damplifier Pro
jhmeg2 Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I would also recomend looking into Memphis. I ue some of there products and love 'em. And why all one brand? Mix it up use the things that you like the sound of and what will get the job dne the best. How about a Memphis 5 channel, and some Mb Quart refrance components, the Alpine PXA-H701 processor, and maybee a single 12" Rockford dual 2 ohm sub in a properly designed enclosure, and control it all from the Alpine deck. Just my thoughts. But you need to listen to the comps and the subs, to find out which one you like the most. And to let you know what I did, I set one preset for RTA with it all flat, then another for SQ, one for daily driving, ane the final for SPL. The reason for so many is, I turn off every thing ecept the sub for SPL, and I have very different settings for daily than SQ. SQ is setup so the judges like it, daily is so I like it, and flat is 1.) for RTA and 2.) because it helps me set the others off of it. If you have any questions, ask I will do my best, and if you feel like it look at my profile, it tells a little of what I have done and what equipment I use. Also the best thing tou can do is lean to be able to install stuff of your own. It will give you more sense of prid in your install, and if there is ever a problem, you will more apt af fixing it that spending money and have somebody else fix it for you. And, if ever someone were to ask you a question about your audio setup yo could tell them something other than... "um, uh, yeah, I'm not sure what your talking about". Anyhow, I hope my rambling helped you out in some way. Quote ////Alpine, Eclipse, Load Boss, Pheonix Gold, MB Quart,Digital Desings, Memphis, Stinger, Periphial, MTX, Visualogic
Forevrbumpn Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I like the alpine set up, and as a ex Memphis user, salesman, they are great products as well, great warranty. That Memphis Belle amp is killer, great SQ on the high end, and a good solid class D amp on the low end M1 and M3 subs are really good, and there components Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
