There are a number of methods you can attempt to rectify this situation. My thoughts are you have a box with a frequency response all over the shop, and/or the length of your vehicle with the new woofer placement is not suffecient to accentuate certain frequencies. To rectify number one, try some polyfill around the driver inside the enclosure, a few square feet shall do you just fine. For number two, the only thing you can do is try to move the enclosure, but with an enclosure the size of yours, that may be easier said than done. Low frequency waveforms are very long, and it sounds to me that some frequencies have the mean/average/middle point of the wave sitting square at your listening position, resulting in lower than average pressure at the mix position.

Then again, maybe not.

Cheers,

Mick

perhaps he tuned it too low if it was me I would bring the tuneing up to say 35 hz most rap songs dont play extremely low like he has it tuned

you would be surprised what a proper sized box can do tuned low on rap. maybe he doesn't have the sq in of port to cu ft ratio correct

Need any thing chromed? Hit me up!!!

Are you saying they're not hitting at all, or just a little?

And forgive me if I'm wrong people, but if you're running 6000 watts RMS shouldn't you be able to hear a pretty decent amount of bass even if your box isn't tuned right, etc?

At the end of the day, the box is the biggest deciding factor when it comes to how your subs are going to sound. Sure with 6kw you're going to have a decent ammount of output on pretty much everything, but that doesn't mean it will be really loud on everything. I know I am running a pair of 18's in 14cf box tuned to 30Hz. There are definately certain frequencies that shine, and other that dont seem to be as loud in comparison. As it has already been said, when going from a sealed pair of 15's to a pair of 18's ported. Naturally they are going to have a different sound, and different peak frequencies.

My System:

Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors)

8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash)

1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs)

2-18" BTL's (for now)

Crescendo 3kwp (for sale)

Complete rebuild coming soon...
