cichlidfort Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 So what hz can be heard the farthest. I'm assuming between 30-40 or am I totally off? 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
Guest Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 i would think the lower the hz the farther it would travel, but you would need insane cone area to be able to replicate low hz notes well.
rizzy71 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I think this is right but not positive. In physics we learned that the higher the freq. the longer it will travel. the higher freq the shorter/tighter the wave lengths, which mean it will travel farther before the waves dissipate(spread out/scatter) and can no longer be heard. the lower freq, the bigger and more spaced out the wave legths are so it will dissipate at a shorter distance than a higher frq and no longer be heard. correct me if i am wrong. cichlidfort Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 Higher think sirens True. I made this thread because I have been pulled over twice now within the last two months and everytime I get pulled over its to a song that has a frequencies btwn 30-40. Frist time I got pulled over I was bumpin B.M.E. Cick and second time I was playing Lost by Lil Wayne and Gorrila Zoe. So I was thinking that maybe the cops heard me easier because of the frequencies that the bass is in the song? I mean, the first cop said he heard me around 100 yards away lol. 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
DHFHades Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 actually the lower the tone the farther it travels, the subsonic whale calls can travel for 500 miles or more... 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15 DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active 1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest. rebuild coming soon to get a better score "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. cichlidfort Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 actually the lower the tone the farther it travels, the subsonic whale calls can travel for 500 miles or more... Yeah. I mean you always hear bass before the mids and highs right? 2008 Chevy Impala (undercover cop style) Setup in the makings
mxman38 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 ya u hear lows way before highs... But, dont forget that every system peaks at a different frequency... So if all frequencies are played at the same DB wouldnt they all travel the same distance? BTW whales can be heard in water that far because H20 is more dense than air... i forget the ratio, saw it on discovery channel, lol
Toxiccasper Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Yes but put enough highs on the same power and youll hear them, this isnt all just on different hz it also depends on the driver make the noise or if its not even a driver at all like an air horn
DHFHades Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 BTW whales can be heard in water that far because H20 is more dense than air... i forget the ratio, saw it on discovery channel, lolyeah, the principle is the same for air as well, it won't go for hundreds of miles, but still farther than higher frequencies 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15 DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active 1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest. rebuild coming soon to get a better score "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail.
