Enclosure + Setup Help

Recommended Posts

I seen this guy on youtube with 2 18'' Fi.SSD's on 2400-2800rms in this box below hitting 149db. (In a Ford Escort)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZhfN9Gxcz8

If he hits that much with entry level subs how much db you think I could hit with this system?? WITH THAT SAME BOX ON HIS VID.

This is my !!!Soon 2 Come!!! Setup how good is it???

Vehicle:(1) 2002 Pontiac Grand Am Gt (2-Door with Sunroof)

SUB:(2) 18'' Fi.BTL (Fully Loaded) D2,cooling,hixm coil,induct heat ring,DAILY

AMP:(2) Sundown SAZ-3000D (& BTL's are recommended @ 2000 Rms)

The btl is getting the whole [3000 rms+] Making a total of 6600 rms

Enclosure:(1):[Ported] 12.6 Cuft. (After Displacemant & Port) Tuned to 34hz. 3/4 MDF

(8):Screws for terminals (Better solid connection no leaks)

(8):Dynamat xtreme speaker kits

(2):Dynamat xtreme license plate kit

(3):Packs of dynamat xtreme (complete car kits)

(1):Dynamat trunk kits

(1):PAC 200amp Battery Isolator

(3):300amp Iraggi HO Alternators

(3):Kinetik HC 2400 Batts.

(1):Kinetik HC 800 (under the hood or yellow top)

Big 3 will be done (beefing up my electrical system) Etc.

Amp Kits:(2) Kicker PKD1

Speakers and tweeters will be by Sundowm

Will that be loud?

Also how deep would it get for two subs with a enclosure that big?

Does Dynamat make your bass deeper?

For a lucky quess do you think I'll hit @ leats 156-158db's+ if not a little over since I have dynamat and because the dynamat website says itself it gives you at leats a 3db increase alone maybe more db's are vechicle variant? But 3db's garanteed!! And because he has entry level subs hitting almost 150db and i have top of the line subs.

Also is'nt there a 3db increase because the subs are going to be in the back seat right behind me and not in the trunk? and since the port is going to be in the trunk can i still do hair tricks or not?

Now I know dynamat gives more bass, better SQ,stops rattling,3db increase if not more,But with three dynamat extreme (Complete Car Kits) can you still hear the bass from outside the car and can people still hear me before they see me or what? And can I still get hairtricks with dynamat or not?

Should i get the enclosure double or triple baffled

With the enclosure being tuned to 34hz. I know it will hit hi notes good but will it still hit low low notes good?

P.S:Try to answer all of the dynamat and enclosure questions if you can!!

Sorry for all the quesions please dont cuss me out :(

yes it will hit the low notes good cuz the port is tuned low, yes ppl will still hear u comin and with that dynamat it will reduce the rattling by alot but ur car will still rattle no matter wut, yes dynamat increases SPL by alil and it does improve SQ alittle and yes u should be able to do hairtricks and i dont think u would be hitting 156db...i think u would be more in the 152-154db range

EDIT: be sure to brace the box internally also and i think u should double baffle it and the youtube link is a vid of gorilla zoe's music vid. lost

With that tuning I think you'll be a touch over 150. No way in hell you'll be 156-158. Dynamat doesn't always add dB - in some cars it lowers it.

And what? You're going to have the subs firing forwards and the port backwards into the trunk? -5dB there....

Wow that's a hell of a post. As stated above, you will come nowhere near 155. You will probably break 150 though. As far as putting your subs forward and port back, where did that idea come from?

I'm assuming you don't know much about systems so you're best bet would be to NOT give the BTLs 3000+ watts as you'll just tear them apart.

You are getting your hopes up way too high about Dynamat.

Lose the battery isolater as it will hurt you more than help.

Will it get loud? Well it depends what you call loud. If the box is done right, you should be able to pull off a slight hair trick. (EDIT: Assuming it's a trunk system)

Electrical looks good other than the isolater.

34hZ is a good tune and should perform well on the whole spectrum as long as you don't abuse the freqs way below tuning.

Sounds like you're building from the ground up. Just make sure you do it right the first time and start a build thread so we can all see it.

Subs firing forward means they are facing the front of the car. If you were to do that and port back, it would work against you.

So since i'm going to have the subs "firing upwards" is that better??

It is better, but just because you do the exact same thing as someone else doesn't mean you'll be getting the same results. They are entirely different cars for one and every car performs differently.

Not saying it will, but there's a possibility that what works in the Escort might not work in your GrandAm.

Yeah, your right!!! I guess im just hoping for the best. But one more thing: Do you think those 2 18 btls would work better in the box were talking about or in a wicked one horn enclosure???
