Box Firing Direction

I'm currently gonna be redoing a box for my subs and needed some opinions. My equipment is two 12" DC level four with level five coils and two Elemental Designs Nine.1's strapped. The car is a 2001 Chevy Malibu.

My dillema is I only got one way I can do this(meaning can't trial and error it with building different boxes due to low funds so I gotta just get an idea and go for it). The question is should I just build the box in the trunk subs and port forward sealed off from the trunk, or subs and port facing back.

If you're able to seal it off pretty good, subs and port forward is the loudest and cleanest sounding by far, make sure to seal it up real nice.

If you can't do that, subs and port back seems to be the next best contender

forward sealed off at trunk, it makes a big diff, i built a ported box for one of my mtx 5500 15's, and put it in my geo, i had it faceing back twards trunk lid and it was ok but not that loud, i turned it around and it make a night and day difference, acually a ported box faceing into cabbin was louder than 2 15's sealed faceing trunk lid, so i say go face em forward man, also gives u trunk space for stuff and wont affect subs or what knot

Personnally i think in a car, i would put it ported facing towards the back.

I have a Q- i have a 00 gmc jimmy and have 4 12" in a single box, two on the top and 2 on the bottom, with one port between each. righ now i have them towards the back, is it better pointed towads the back hatch or up-towards the roof, or towards the windshield? i seen steve has his pointed to the roof and sound sick, and most of the suv have it the same way, what do you think?

That I personally would say subs up port back or subs up port up, firing direction is much easier to figure in an suv. I actually wish I had an suv instead of this Malibu as a project car.

Im not a fan of the gas milage i get (12mpg) i went from an accord to this, only reason i got it was for the room to put in a system. :hairtrick:

Yea I got a 2004 Durango but thats for the fam, however I got a 7 inch flip out, a 15.1 inch flip down and two 12" Kicker subs and a 300 watt Kicker mono amp( package deal I picked up at Circuit city). That gets the same milage as you. The Malibu I get to do whatever to.
