ok so would this will be safe then...?

keep the 200amp fuse under the hood after the first battery...

then take the fuse i have infront of the second battery and put it before the RF amp instead or is 200amp too much for it??the amp is reccomended of 150amps...

also i thought u needed a 2nd fuse infront of the 2nd battery to protect the 2nd battery?

just want to do it right you know..i never had a system with 1500+ RMS

my system has been connected all day today but i havent powered the sub amp/subs cuz i dont have the 150 fuse..

so i was wondering if i could do what i wrote in the post previous to this one??

put the 200 amp fuse between the first battery and the second battery.

then get a 150 amp fuse soon for between the amp and second battery.

you should be fine until you get the last fuse.

k thanks a lot

I disagree.

If the wire from the front battery to the rear one shorts out then the 200A fuse on the first battery might pop but the second battery will crank current down the wire and create a fire hazard.

You should always fuse within 12" of the battery on ANY wire that could short out. This means you need to fuse both ends of a wire running from front battery to rear.

The fuses on your amp are really just there to protect things if the amp fails and the power supply goes short-circuit on you. You don't HAVE to have a fuse before the amp, but it doesn't hurt - and if there's a chance that wire could short out another way, you must fuse it.

thanks for clearing that up Boon, that is exactly the reason why i put 2 fuses on my main power wire

but everyone keeps telling me different but i said Fu*k it and bought a fuse and my friend gave me the holder for free

so i kept both fuses for both batteries

Good info Boon.

The point of a fuse is to cut off power if things go awry. You can shut your car off and your alternator stops putting out power, but it is impossible to turn "off" a battery. If it shorts out, it will give the wire/car everything its got, which is PLENTY of energy to start a fire/weld sheet metal/burn all the wires insulation instantly.

The way to avoid such a situation is to protect every source of "unlimited" current (battery) by fusing EVERY wire coming off a positive battery terminal. Exceptions would be a short jumper to another battery within 18".

As far as what size fuse to run, it's quite simple. The largest fuse you can use would be the one matched to the size of your power cable, which is what you're actually protecting. (1/0 - 350A, 2 awg - 225A, 4 awg - 150A) You can ALWAYS use a smaller fuse, but it may let go if it's smaller than your amp load.

Finally you have a fuse between the second battery and the amp. This fuse serves two purposes, and is crucial for your setup. 1. it protects the amp from pulling too much current and frying itself. 2. this wire goes DIRECTLY to a positive battery terminal, i.e. a source of "unlimited" current, and should this wire come out from the amp's terminal it would weld itself to any grounded surface with no protection.

alright i ran 1/0 wire from the front batter positive with a 200amp fuse

in the trunk i have a 200amp fuse before the battery

after the battery i plan to put a 150amp fuse for the RF amp...from knu

is this correct???

..2 people told me that i have too many fuses

1 of them was from crutchfield......

You had it right in the first place... Protect both batterys and the amp....

Don't need a fuse before back battery? Ya ok burn up your back battery and save the front, thats smart.. especially when you amp is pullin off back battery.
