slugdub Posted March 13, 2009 Report Share Posted March 13, 2009 I was about to just go ahead and order a Kenwood KAC-8104D or the older 8103D (both are on sale now for pretty cheap). This is to power two subs. I had been using a rockford punch 250a bridged (but ruined it by running 2 channels @ 2 ohms) so I now understand I was actually getting double (500 watts RMS) out to get the sound I wanted. Correct? I guess I am just scared to start using mono amps because I was worrying what would happen if somehow one speaker came unplugged and the full power was then sent into just one... but turns out the ohms would increase too, so that protects it right? So just to confirm (i swear i knew this stuff years ago, i'm just burned out) # Maximum Output Power: 1000 watts # RMS Power @ 4 ohms: 300 watts x 1 # RMS Power @ 2 ohms: 500 watts x 1 # 2 ohm stable So I will actually be pulling down 250 watts into each speaker if I connect them both right? I think it might blow up my subs but I don't care. I need it. Now. {edit} Ordered. $175 almost seems cheap for what I'm getting. Seriously. I am nearly in love. For real. like that woman who married the Eiffel tower and was in love with her bow?
