The Simplest Possible Enclosure

I want to run to home depot tomorrow and grab some mdf and some pvc and come away with a decent, cheap, basic box for two 12's.

Obviously ported. I looked here:

And I was 'baffled' by the choices, nothing I even remotely comprehended. I just want to copy a basic box tuned to 32hz. I don't know why I can't find a simple diagram easily. googling comes up with some wacky stuff.

I guess I already know sorta what I want based on the old plywood version i have, I just only know i want my port diamater to be the same distance from the rear wall? I'm lost actually. Sorry to rely so heavily on your help

diamond audio has a decent box. i have it in my car now and it hits pretty hard. the subs are also comparable. you can find the dimensions for it on their site,

And what the hell is the manual saying about filling the box with poly fill? That is wild. I would like to lightly restrict movement of the speaker though, I don't want this box to allow to much air flow.

thats what i use. i have hears its not accurate but it works for me. im just not good with math, that's why i use it.

So what is the "DAT" they are referring to for rounded corners? People don't use round ports anymore huh? I am truly getting old

I am getting way into this. Honestly I was a tad scared beforehand, despite having help from like a pro boxmaker. This kid makes tons of beanie bag boxes for friends and has done these before.

Its just having to take the time to sketch out the cuts and materials that I was worried about. got the brain out of mothballs.

Still don't know what DAT is though.

check something like amatt's calculator, i love that thing

plan the box out, draw it (like how each piece will overlap and such) and then carefully calculate exactly how large each piece is

then all you have to do is measure four times and cut once, glue, screw, and carpet

I just wanted an already done box so I don't have to worry about anything. I figure that box can be done using only a 6' X 4' piece of 3/4" mdf no problem, possibly I might come up a bit light for scrap in the 45's, but I'd like to try using a resin for that or something.

I wonder how people make sure they have a tight seal between speaker and box? The box I own, the guy frickin glued the subs down, which I do not feel like doing.
