Cutting Down On Flex On A Budget

I have some issues with minor trunk rattling and not-so-minor flexing of the OE rear speaker mount/tray thingy (I will put pictures up soon, promise!) Does anyone have experience with reducing these rattles for cheap? I already caulked the gaps in my trunk lid; the worst spots are in the front corners and down by the latch...

Another thing I was thinking about was this: I'll be building a new box for my subs soon, and I was wondering if I could run a couple chunks of 2x4 or something from the top of the box onto that package tray/speaker panel thing to keep it from flexing. There's a couple spots I could run screws thru, and as a plus, maybe that would hold the box in place. Good idea? Bad idea?

Depends on how thick your "rear speaker mount/tray thingy" is

Looks like two pieces of sheet metal, really thin. I mean, I'm only running 350w RMS and anything below maybe 55Hz causes it to go crazy, so its not a beefy piece. I'll try and get pics up tomorrow.

MDF rings can be used to add structure for the rear speakers. The rest can be solved with sound deadener.

there isnt a really cheap way of doing it. get some type of sound dampening material
