Using A Capacitor In Place Of A Subsonic Filter?

Since my old amp doesnt have a subsonic filter, im resorting to using a small capacitor in-line with the + wire going to the sub.

i used the calc on the12volt.com and it said i need a 1000ufd cap to have a 40hz cutoff at a 6db slope with a 4ohm speaker.

my question is, will this capacitor work?

does you amp put out more than 50 volts?

no, im running it bridged, since it a 4 channel, at 30v.

i was thinking about that voltage rating but its for DC, so i dont know what it would be for AC

I would just use an inline crossover on the RCA, like one of these nifty devices:

30 Hz

20 Hz

someone on here said that those degrade the sound quality alot

Degrade the sound quality?? It's sub bass...it's a pretty damn easy signal, you could carry it over a coat hanger.
