Colin - STAPUFT Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 Little Soundstage Update. Sorry for the poor photos- used my phone. Re-covered some donor van speaker grills with black speaker grill covering. Original grills had been... um, "modified". Donors were the original blue, but 23+ years and the junkyard had not been kind. All in all, I think they look good in black. Took 4 of my "Tsk-Tsk" tweeters and re-did the setup. Now there is one on each corner (left and right) and there is a left and right in the center channel. So- driver's & passenger's side has their own left and right tweeter up high. Mostly for fun and to see how it would sound. I think I like it better- for now. The only thing I don't like is that they are cheapie Pyle tweeters. I'm considering getting 2 more pairs of McIntosh Silk Dome tweets like the ones in my kicks in the place of these. Perhaps down the road? (yes... that is Peal and Seal) (lots of it) (sorry this one is blurry) Now that the van is running and the weather is nice, as time permits- I am going to be re-wiring the mids and highs for more power and flexibility. Planning on putting an 8" MTX 5000 I have in a TL under the middle seat too. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Colin - STAPUFT Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Goofy Update. I had one of these laying around from work that the switching buttons were bad. So I cut it up and made a RCA distribution block for my 3 Sub Amps. In place and works. This way I don't daisy chain the RCAs. I know... wires everywhere. Also- Sticker Update. The old.... The New! Mr. Stay Puft!!! Debating on removing the 2 little Cerwin-Vega stickers on each side.... 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. 2loudisjustright Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 man!. this is awsome. my favourite brand is cerwin vega. and i love that you did this. it looks amazing! I see that from your Avatar! Nice. Thanks for the the compliment. I was hooked on Cerwin-Vega! the first time I heard one of their subs. They aren't as big here in the States as they used to be- still seem to be pretty big over seas. I used to be big on Cerwin Vega too. Prolly would have done an all cerwin vega build if you could still get the recone kits from them for the old strokers! Loved those subs!! Those old vegas were nice too! 2000 zx2: Rebuild with 8 12s on a 10k underway!! MY BUILD LOG
Colin - STAPUFT Posted September 24, 2011 Author Report Posted September 24, 2011 Ruh Roh- out again... Switching device- gonna' use this to select through my different horns (when I get them hooked up) DVM up front finally. The new one in (cut up a panel from a donor van) compared to the original panel. Next up- pull the compressor, put in additional alt. Then maybe another battery. Maybe. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Can't say I would go with them now- they aren't the USA company they used to be. But back in the day- mmmmm-mmmmm. Tasty. Never had a CV Stroker, but wish I did. Would be cool if all 12 of these were the old Strokers. & Moon- you know I have to keep on messing with stuff. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Cool. Try to get some night photos on your build log. Yours is one of the builds I frequent from time to time, checking for updates. I've thought about doing something like that myself, but I have waaay too much going on with the van as it is. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain.
