Where, Oh Where To Run My Wires?

I am about to upgrade my power wire from Fosgate 8-gauge to Streetwires 4-gauge. It's a little on the hacked-up side, but its what I need, and it was free. Anyhow, I was debating where to run the wire. The 8-gauge ran through a hole in the firewall I drilled, in the dash to the doorsill, up the back wheelwell, and down into the trunk. I could follow this, OR just run it underneath and drill a hole somewhere in the trunk floor. Thoughts are as follows:

-possibly needing less wire to do that, since now my wires have to run around the dash, around the B-pillar, and all over the place basically. Good.

-Exposure to elements and getting ripped out by debris. Bad, especially with wire with some splices and such within.

-REALLY don't want to drill through anything expensive or damaging.

-What about that 8-gauge hole? how do i patch it?

Anyone else have any thoughts? Other ideas? What to do where? Any advice will help me a lot since I'm honestly a total noob at this.

you are going to splice together the 4 gauge to make it to the trunk?

Just make the 8 guage hole bigger to fit the 4 guage and just follow the same path

your can run the wire outside your car and tuck it under your side skirt of the car,the insulation protects it from the elements. But for just one run of 4 gauge. will be easier to just make the previous hole bigger. and run it inside the car

I think i'll just hog out the 8-ga. hole and run it that way. Thanks for the advice guys!
