Needing Tips On Front X-member On A 86' Suburban

i kno the standard

A.you can Z the frame (or notch) in the front by the firewall, and back down in front of the A arm mounts...

B.i could buy a pre made X-MEMBER that will layit out flat and narrow the track width (around 2k$)

C. start cutting and see what happends lol

im realy just wanting to find sum people that have delt with the X-MEBERS on a C series chevy 80's model ?

pics or any ideas would be nice, ill post pics and a build log soon!

If I was going to spend the money on a new crossmember i would look at the p57 from www.suicidedoors.com. the porterbuilt front end is nice but a little more pricey and you can pick it up from kp compnents. I think fatman fabrications make one too. I have bagged 3 of these trucks, and I always z'd the frame, less money, you just have to notch the drivers a arm and a steering shaft support, i used a heim joint

thanks iv heard of people sayn that you can chop it down... but i didnt rly wana go in blind and screw up my only extra X-member thanks, and yeah my dad has his own fab shop, and me and a few friends are fairly skilled thanks for the link mane

just do a stock floor body drop and build a new frame from the engine mounts back that will fix the crossmember problem and drop you a couple more inches. If you have a fab shop and some skills you will only be out a few hundred dollars for the metal and a fuel cell.
