Solo X Setup Help!

Recommended Posts

HEY,.... i Am in need of some advice.. Would a box with 38" x 14" x 26" and a 6" port Tuned at 34 HZ be good for 2 KICKER Solo X 12's in an EXPEDITION? I am running them with 2 SOUNDSTORM F3600D 1800 watt RMS at 2 OHMS Mono AMPS...

This was a box seen on ebay for $219 free shipping and the AMPS were $160 a piece. If I got a box built what would the recommend specs be and an Estimate price also? Any recommendations or suggestions?

x2 and i think that box may be alittle 2 small for those subs

kicker recommends a 3-6cu.ft. box for 1 solo x 12 giving it about 1400-2000watts rms

so basically u probably need an 8 cu.ft. box with either 2 T20001bd's (one on each sub), T40001bd, 2 DAT 2500.1, SAZ-3000D

For 2 solo X 12's I would build the following:

Port inner dimensions = 10 31/32" H x 10 31/32" W x 6" D

Box dimensions - 40" W x 32" D x 24" H

That will give you almost 1/2 cubic ft. for bracing. Double the baffle.

box seems too small, and the port seems a little on the small side for SPL subs.

imo i wouldnt trust a box off ebay with good equipment

and idk about those amps, i cant find a single picture of the power side/fuses, or a rating for current draw

i'm willing to bet its fused for like 40-60amps

edit: its fused at 90 amps...so you'd be lucky to see 900-1000 watts out of that thing, ever. it will never make 1800watts, or the 3600 it says at 1ohm, let alone do it RMS

just keep in mind you're only giving them 1000 watts, you might be better off doing a very large port in a pretty large box to get some decent output, unless you want to spend some cash on a good amp, an aq2200 would be a similar price and do more power more cleanly.

oops, my bad!

For 2 solo X 12's I would build the following:

Port inner dimensions = 10 31/32" H x 10 31/32" W x 6" D

Box dimensions - 38" W x 32" D x 22" H

Woofer displacement is .19 cu ft per sub

Those specs will give you 12.35 cu ft. that should allow for some 2x4 bracing. You are looking for 12 cubic ft. with that port. Remember to double your baffle also.
