ChiTownTBird312
a buddy of mine just ordered 2 rl-s 12's a few days ago and asked me what he should have the builder tune the box to....i really have no clue where these subs perform best at. what would you guys recommend him having the box tuned to? he just wants to sound clean on lows....not really looking for being loud as hell. any info appreciated thanks Edited April 16, 2009 by ChiTownTBird312 Quote Matt W. 1996 Thunderbird LX Sport 4.6 new system soon...still deciding on what to get. Decaf
well the website says Acceptable: 2.0 cu ft - infinity net volume sealed 3.0 - 5.0 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 16 - 24 Hz Optimal Home: 4.5 cu ft net volume sealed 5.0 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 16 Hz Infinite Baffle Optimal Car: 2.5 cu ft net volume sealed 3.0 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 24 Hz do either 5cuft sealed, since they perform well sealed... or 6ish at 28... if it were me... 24 is retarded low for a car its pretty much designed to be the monster of low end mosters fyi Edited April 16, 2009 by decafcappucino

ChiTownTBird312
i posted up about them before...i heard they can get pretty loud but its not what they are for. they are just to sound extremely clean and hit lows like no other. Decaf
28 wouldnt be to low for daily bumpin you dont think? ok but the specs also say 24hz as the highest, so u aren already raising it some... i LOVE lows and tune to ~30hz and i feel its a perfect hz, but thats my opinion... considering the sub, and its bl curve... 28hz will be fine... 32 honestly is beginning to defeat the purpose of this sub... its not a sub for the average joe he said to ask if he tuned a little higher(like 32 would it make much difference in sound quailty wit these subs. tune to 30 highest imo if you want it... the idea behind this speaker is to have consistancy from 20hz and up... the higher u tune it, the farther away from flat u get, which is what they were made for check out ssaudio's eclipse, not the same subs but 26hz daily tuning... and it has major wangage... or jacks sleeper contact soundsplinter if you want a manufactueres opinion
01xtreme
I've always thought of the RL-s as more of a home theater type sub. Especially with requiring an enclosure tuned that low Quote My System: Pioneer AVH-P3200BT 4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors) 8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash) 1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs) 2-18" BTL's (for now) Crescendo 3kwp (for sale) Complete rebuild coming soon... ChiTownTBird312
Well my friend is definately an average joe just wanted somethin different. But if it will perform fine there that's what I'll tell him. Quote Matt W. 1996 Thunderbird LX Sport 4.6 new system soon...still deciding on what to get.
